School Meals

Our school meals are provided by Kirklees Council.  All children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are entitled to a free hot meal.  These follow the Government guidelines on healthy eating.  There is a set menu each day and the children have three choices.  Children choose which meal they would like each morning.  Menus are sent home twice a year and the current menu can be found by clicking on 'Munch the Dragon' below.  There are a wide selection of desserts available including fruit and a hot pudding daily.  Once a week we offer 'Sugar Smart' choices where all the desserts have reduced sugar content.

The kitchen is happy to cater for religious diets if the school is informed in writing in advanced.  Medical Dietary needs require a letter from your child's doctor or dietician.

In Key Stage 2 meals are £2.35 per day.  This can be paid via Parent Pay.  If you don't have a Parent Pay account please speak to the school office so they can set one up.  If you are in receipt of certain benefits your child may be entitled to a free school lunch.  Please speak to Mrs Irving if you think you may be entitled and she can apply for you.  If you would like to apply yourself please click here

Packed Lunches

You may prefer to send your child to school with a packed lunch.  We encourage healthy eating and would like you to include some fresh fruit or vegetables in your child's box.  Sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks are not allowed.  We also do not allow nuts of any kind, including peanut butter or Nutella chocolate spread due to allergies.  We would ask you to be realistic about what your child will eat.  We do encourage them to eat what is sent to school but any uneaten food is left in lunchboxes so that you are aware of what they have eaten.  Please clearly label your child's lunchbox on the outside as we get a number of boxes with the same design.  Ideas for healthy lunches can be found on the following website:

Snacks

Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are provided with a piece of fruit or vegetables each day as part of a Government initiative.  Children in Key Stage 2 are allowed to bring in fruit or vegetables for snack.

Children who are under 5 can have free milk each day, but must start paying for milk from the term that they turn 5.  Children in other year groups can have milk at morning break which must be ordered through the School Milk UK website.  You can pay weekly, termly or Year.  Click here to go to the School Milk UK website.

As a healthy school we feel it is important that your child regularly drinks water.  Please send your child in with a named water bottle with a spill proof top.  Children are encouraged to drink from these bottles throughout the day.
